Galatians 6:9

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:9

In the pathway of service to Christ it is easy to become discouraged.  It may be that we see very little fruit for our efforts. We may encounter ridicule, lost friendships, hardships, and innumerable other difficulties.  Should we ``throw in the towel”, give up and say what’s the use?

We must remember that God has not given up on us; and we have this promise that in due season we shall reap.  What a reaping that will be! Eternal felicity in heaven with our Savior, and those that we have helped to lead to Christ.

It is God’s promise that we shall reap if we faint not. It is His promise. You can count on it.

Hebrews 10:37

For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Hebrews 10:37

Jesus came the first time to suffer and die for our sins.  He was ridiculed, insulted, abused, and tortured; He came as the Lamb of God to be slaughtered as a sacrifice for our sins.

His second coming will not be in the role of a lamb, but as the Lion of the tribe of Judah.  He is coming not to suffer but to judge; not to submit, but to reign; not to be mocked and ridiculed, but be honored and obeyed.

Even so, come Lord Jesus!

1 Peter 5:6

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 1 Peter 5:6

Preferment in the Kingdom 1 Peter 5:6

The way of the world is pomp and circumstance.  ``Make way for me.”

``Look me over.”  Not so for the Christian.  As an example, we can look to our Savior, who being found in the fashion of a man, humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

And why should we be proud? Everything that we have was given to us; every blessing we receive was purchased by His sacrifice on the cross. As one of the old Puritans put it, ``All  our blessings come swimming to us in the blood of Jesus.”

1 Peter 2:15

For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: 1 Peter 2:15

Serving Christ

In serving Christ it is natural at times to want to be combatant; to fight fire with fire. But the best testimony as God has ordained it is to be patient, law abiding, with patient continuance in well  doing; walking in the Spirit, with the Joy of the Lord in our heart.

Romans 5:8

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

This passage tells us that we might be able to stretch our imagination to the point that we might accept the idea that Christ could sacrifice Himself for good men; people of sterling character, worthy of praise.  But angels stand in awe unable to comprehend that He would sacrifice Himself and die in the place of people of bad character, miserable sinners whose thoughts, manner of life and character tend only to self-love, self serving, bitterness ,hatred, strife and all manner of evil; but He did so, and that will furnish us with matter for praise and rejoicing throughout eternity. Precious Jesus!  Marvelous Saviour!

2 Corinthians 4:9

Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 2 Corinthians 4:9

The fate of being abandoned by the Father was experienced by Jesus on the cross, and was the worst part of His suffering when He cried out ``My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?     But He has promised that if we know Him, we will never have to suffer such withdrawal of the Spirit and abandonment by the Father. Blessed be God, Jesus is a friend that sticks closer than a    brother, and has said to us, ``I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
